In a world where equestrian spaces can often feel rigid, fast-paced & performance-driven, Irish coach Helen O’Hanlon is quietly offering something refreshingly different...

Helen O’Hanlon has spent 18 years in the education sector as a secondary school teacher & holds Master’s degrees in both Education & Coaching Psychology.

She runs her own yard, teaches lessons & clinics, hosts online educational events & regularly writes on horsemanship & equestrian personal development. She is passionate about equestrian education & creating a more harmonious life for horses & humans.

Her Horsemanship Coaching Circle, now entering its third year, is an online learning space designed to support equestrians in developing a deeper, more thoughtful relationship with their horses, one built on understanding & communication.

Hosted through a private Instagram platform, the Coaching Circle blends accessibility with depth. Participants receive daily, bite-sized content that can be engaged with entirely on their own schedule, a format that reflects the realities of modern life, while still offering meaningful to learn.

But this is not simply a content library.

What sets the Coaching Circle apart is its evolving, interactive nature. Alongside structured topics such as emotional regulation, recognising stress signals, groundwork & practical handling skills, the programme is shaped by the experiences & questions of its members.

Conversations unfold in real time, creating a shared learning environment that feels both supportive & relevant.
New for this year is a weekly members-only podcast, offering an additional layer of reflection & discussion, something Helen describes as “a space to explore ideas in a more conversational, long form format.”

At its core, the Coaching Circle is grounded in a modern understanding of equine behaviour, incorporating insights from neuroscience findings & learning theory.

“I want people to take away long-lasting ways of thinking about their horsemanship,” Helen explains. “And to feel empowered to move forward in a way that feels comfortable to horse & human.’’

In an industry that can often prioritise quick fixes, the Coaching Circle offers something quieter, but ultimately more impactful - a chance to slow down, to notice more & to build skills that truly last.

For equestrians seeking a more considered, compassionate approach to horsemanship, it may be exactly what you have been looking for.
