🎙From Childhood Dreams to "Champion" Partnerships - A Conversation with Once in a Bay Moon
In last week's episode of the Equitas podcast, we were joined by Elishia - better known online as Once in a Bay Moon - for a beautifully down-to-earth and refreshingly honest chat about horses, content creation, and the quiet strength that comes from trusting the process.
Based in Cornwall, Elishia shared how she fell in love with horses despite no family background in the sport, inspired (as many of us were) by The Saddle Club. Her journey as a horse owner began with Boo and now includes her big bay, Bart.
We talked about what it’s like to move from a long-time partnership with a more “forgiving” horse, to a newer, much younger one who is still learning—and how much of a mental shift that takes. “I put a lot of pressure on myself,” Elishia admitted, reflecting on the early days with Bart. “But actually, as long as they’re fed, warm enough and have water—they don’t really care if they miss two days of riding.”
“If you wouldn’t go to someone for advice, don’t take it just because they offer it”
Elishia also spoke candidly about the reality of sharing her life online-dealing with the occasional eye-roll or criticism, especially from non-horsey people. But her grounded perspective shines through: “If you wouldn’t go to someone for advice, don’t take it just because they offer it,” she said. A reminder that we all need from time to time.

From building brand relationships with Champion and Weatherbeeta, to her goal of riding tackless, Elishia is proving that everyday riders absolutely deserve space and voice in the equestrian world.
