HerForm Programme Launches to Support the Next Generation of Female Jockeys
A new cross-border initiative is set to support and strengthen the development of female jockeys, as HerForm launches this April across Ireland and the UK.
Delivered through a collaboration between JETS and Equuip, the pilot programme introduces a structured approach to personal and professional development within racing - an area that has often been overlooked despite the increasing presence of women in the sport.
A Programme Built Around the Realities of Racing
HerForm has been designed specifically for female riders, combining five online modules with follow-up webinars led by specialist speakers and guest jockeys.
The programme focuses on key areas that directly impact both performance and career sustainability:
Understanding identity and self-awareness
Female health and wellbeing
Communication within professional environments
Personal protection, both in the workplace and online
Managing transitions throughout a racing career
Participants will also be given the opportunity to reflect, share experiences, and build connections within a peer network.
Creating Space for Development Beyond the Saddle
The initiative reflects a broader shift within racing - recognising that success is not defined solely by results on the track, but by the ability to navigate the demands of the industry off it.
Through this programme, jockeys will be supported in developing the skills required to manage pressure, build confidence, and take ownership of their careers over the long term.
The inclusion of guest jockeys and open discussion is a notable element, offering participants the chance to engage with lived experience as well as expert guidance.
A Collaborative Step Forward
The partnership between JETS and Equuip brings together two organisations with established roles in jockey welfare and career support. By working across Ireland and the UK, HerForm signals a more aligned approach to athlete development - one that acknowledges both shared challenges and opportunities within the sport.
Looking Ahead
As the programme begins, HerForm represents a practical step towards addressing gaps in support for female riders - not through broad statements, but through targeted, accessible education.
Its impact will ultimately be measured not just in participation, but in how it shapes confidence, decision-making, and longevity within the careers of those involved.
For a sport built on resilience, discipline, and adaptability, initiatives like this offer something equally important: structure, support, and space to grow.
