Niamh Fitzpatrick: “It Was So Woo-Woo.” Now It's the Whole Practice.
A decade in corporate finance, a redundancy she saw coming, and a complete reinvention as an equine bodyworker and energy practitioner — Niamh Fitzpatrick talks to Sarah about the version of herself she used to hide, and why she's stopped.
Niamh spent ten years at AIG before retraining, and the conversation traces that whole unlikely shift — from a specific, almost accidental moment that made her realise she had no tangible skills of her own, through years of hands-on study (Masterson Method, physio, craniosacral work, osteopathy) most people would recognise as straightforward equine therapy.
What's less expected is how much of the conversation is about the part of her work she spent years underplaying — an energy-based, often remote practice she talks about candidly, including what she means when she says most of what she actually does was never really physical at all.
They also talk about her early experience with her own horse, Dan — bought without any real understanding of what she was taking on — and how the gap between her confidence and her competence back then shaped the practitioner she'd eventually become.
The conversation closes on her home-based practice in County Wexford, built almost entirely on word of mouth, and a new podcast venture with a friend in New Zealand that gives a sense of where she's headed next.
